Nature Park
Dragisnica and Komarnica, is located in the northwest of the Municipality of Savnik, bordering the National Park Durmitor. The total area of the park is 2.994.00 ha. The area of the
Dragišnica and Komarnica Nature Park includes three areas that can be viewed as three unique and recognisable units, that are
Dragisnica, the Nevidio Canyon and Boljske Grede.
The lowest point is in the
canyon of the river Komarnica with an altitude of 651 m above sea level, while the highest point is the peak
Ogorjeli Krs with an altitude of 1.998 m above sea level. The presence of a significant number of plant species and plant communities formed in pronounced alpine conditions has been found in this Nature Park.
The river
Komarnica is formed from several smaller rivers:
Bukovica, Savnik, Tusinja, and the river Bijela. The river Komarnica and its canyon are special attractions. Komarnica is part of the Piva watercourse and flows through the Dragisnica valley, which is rich in diverse vegetation. In its course through Piva, Komarnica is about 25 km long.
Both the Komarnica River and Komarnica Canyon belong to the group of five river canyons in the Durmitor NP.
Nevidio Canyon is 3.500 meters long, 150 meters deep on average, with waterfalls over 100 meters high. This canyon was named
Nevidio (no-see) because some parts of the canyon block the river valley so that the sun's rays seldom reach it. Nevidio Canyon is a pearl of Montenegrin nature and is a real attraction for all those who enjoy the challenge.
This canyon is the last conquered canyon in Europe, due to its specific characteristics and inaccessibility, and it was conquered in 1965.
