Pastrovica Dvori
Montenegro
Traditional
Heading South from Sveti Stefan, a typical village in Montenegro, the Pastrovic Dvor restaurant is a gem that not many people are fortunate enough to stumble upon. The restaurant is placed at the foot of the mountain where it meets the sea, which makes for the most amazing views from the outside dining canopy. A short uphill drive off the main road takes you to parking for the restaurant. Note that parking is not often easy to come by in the town itself so makes for an added bonus at Pastrovic Dvor.
This is a very well run family restaurant, with the owner Željko Niklanović being described as a welcoming host. The food is homemade from local produce, such as the regional sausage and chips, cheese and ham and the house specialty of lamb steamed in a bell dish. There is also a range of homemade wine and cherry Rakia (brandy) available which are very rural in their origin. But being homemade does not mean that vegetarian dishes are excluded, they are also found on the tasty menu.
So sit outside under a canopy of vines and take in the wide views of the sea, in the evenings they also have live music and traditional evergreen dancing. This is available for all visitors but organized tours can be hosted. This is a perfect spot to stop if you are nearby, or perhaps as a lunch break on the road to Lake Skadar from the North.
